GENERAL

Yard Sale – Saturday 14th January 2023
The vendor spaces for our 2023 Yard Sale are now fully booked. If you would like to donate second-hand stuff to be sold at the event, our Thai PSC is happy to take and sell them in the Thai PSC booth. The money will be donated toward the Middle School building project. You can drop off your good condition stuff on Friday 13th January 2023 between 7:45 – 8:15 a.m. and 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the small gate going into the soccer field by the motorbike parking.

Community Carnival | COO.Office@gisthailand.org
The GIS Community Carnival will be held on 28 January from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm on the school campus. This will be a time for children to play exciting games and for the whole family to socialize and eat some yummy food. The Carnival this year has a beach theme, and we encourage everyone to dress like they are going for a day at the beach. The entrance fee will be 50 baht per person, and each game ticket will cost 20 baht. All proceeds will benefit our amazing Secondary students to help pay for class activities.

Medical records required for Re-enrollment are as follows:

Student Physical Examination Form within 3 months of the examination date. Student Physical Exams Form.
The TB skin test or QFT is required every 3 years. TB skin test result form.

You will receive an email reminder if your children are due for TB testing this year.

If your children have life-threatening allergies, Asthma, or other Health accommodation needs.

Please have your physician review the action plans at the same time as their physical examination.

The vaccination clinic will be held in the nurse’s office on Tuesday, 24 January 2023 from 3:15-4 pm.
Use this link to sign up and pay no later than the Friday before the clinic date. Elementary students will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

To help prevent the spread of disease, please keep sick children at home and follow: GIS Attendance Policy Related to Illness.

If you have Covid or flu-like symptoms, please stay home until symptoms have improved and you are fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
If you test positive with no symptoms, please wear a mask around others while monitoring symptoms
Masks should also be worn while recovering from illness if mild symptoms persist for the protection of others.
When students return to school after being out sick, please have them report to the nurses for assessment before returning to class.

We will continue to implement and encourage the following standard precautionary measures on campus to prevent the spread of communicable diseases:

Promote updated vaccines for flu and Covid-19
Promote good handwashing and have hand sanitizer readily available
Encourage mask wearing if exhibiting mild respiratory symptoms without fever
Encourage social distancing as much as possible
Maintaining regular cleaning and disinfection of rooms on campus

ELEMENTARY

Every other Tuesday elementary students gather together for a time of worship, fun, and learning more about God from interesting speakers. Parents are welcome to join us for chapel time. January chapel days are January 17 & 31 and is from 8:20-9:00 a.m.

We have MANY unclaimed jackets, food containers, water bottles, and school uniforms. Next time you are on campus, please claim your lost items outside the elementary office. To avoid loss in the future, please label all these things with your family name. Any items not claimed before Thursday, January 12 will be donated to the GIS Yard Sale.

If your child(ren) will be absent from school for more than two days, please submit a Planned Absence Request Form as soon as possible (at least one week prior to absence is preferable).

Tiger Pride Day CHANGE | elementary.office@gisthailand.org
Once a month elementary shows our Tiger Pride by having a dress-up day. Each month is a different theme but it is always FUN! This month’s Tiger Pride Day has been moved to Monday, January 23. On that day we will be celebrating Chinese New Year and Korean New Year’s Day. Students are encouraged to wear red or traditional Chinese or Korean clothing on that day. If your child chooses not to participate according to the Tiger Pride theme, they should wear their normal Grace uniform. (The revised Elem. January Event calendar can be found here.)

Family Home Weekend is scheduled for February 4-6. There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 6 for elementary (and secondary).

Elementary Afterschool Clubs | elementary.office@gisthailand.org
Afterschool clubs will be on Wednesdays beginning February 1 and continue for 8 weeks total. These clubs are offered to our 3rd – 6th grade students. More details to follow.

SECONDARY

Secondary is so excited for Spiritual Life’s Elevation Week with Chapel every morning!
Our Bell Schedule is a little different due to having Chapel/Assembly every morning.
There will be NO Secondary after-school clubs, athletic practices/trainings/games, and minimal academic homework (exceptions for AP or upper level courses) during this week to encourage students to attend the evening sessions!

SPIRITUAL LIFE

Elevation Week starts TODAY (9 January) and runs through Friday, 13 January with special speakers Jack Meckfessel and Madison Stoller. Our theme this year is “Invitation”. Elevation Week is a special annual event hosted by the Spiritual Life Office. This week-long series of gatherings feature worship times, biblical teaching and spiritual experiences to invite students into a deeper walk with Jesus. Important note:

Evening gatherings (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) from 7:00-8:30pm are optional for our G7-12 students. Parents are welcome to attend evening sessions, but no children/siblings who are younger than Grade 7 may accompany them (no exceptions). Recordings of the teaching times will be made available at a later date.
Sign up is required to attend The Feast concluding Elevation Week on Friday, 13 Jan.
- This meal is for GIS Grade 7-12 students and GIS staff only.
