Community Conversation with the Superintendent II – Feb 17, 2021 | superintendents.office@gisthailand.org 

This is an opportunity for the superintendent to give you an update on the school, address school-wide topics, and answer questions from parents. You’ll also have an opportunity to enjoy some snacks and make connections with other GIS parents.

100th Day Celebration | mkennedy@gisthailand.org

Can you believe it is our 100th day of school already?  Tuesday, February 2, our Kindergarten through 2nd graders will be celebrating our 100th day of school with special activities that morning.  We might even have a surprise or two for our 3rd – 6th graders.

PE Uniform Reminder | mkennedy@gisthailand.org

Sports uniforms are only to be worn during after school sports and are not allowed to be worn during PE classes.  Please make sure your child(ren) are wearing their GIS PE uniform on days they have PE.  Thank you for your cooperation.


Reminder: Eligibility Grade Check | Secondary Office

Eligibility Grade check will be on Friday, February 5. This grade check will determine extracurricular eligibility for Secondary students who are participating in extracurricular activities, such as athletics and after school activities. Please see the PSMO Handbook for more information.

PSAT 10 Testing: Friday, February 26  | Secondary Office

Grade 10 parents, please put Friday, February 26 @ the GIS Cafeteria on your calendar. We understand that this is a NO School day; however, due to restrictions we can only conduct group testing on days without school. Testing will begin at 1:00 PM on that day, and we anticipate testing will be finished by 4:30-4:45 PM. An email will be mailed out shortly with all pertinent information. 

Secondary Lost & Found  | Secondary Office

The Secondary Lost & Found will have a table set up for people to reclaim items.

When: Monday, February 1st from 3:15-3:45
Where: On the walkway as you’re leaving campus.

Family Home Weekend  | Secondary Office

February 6 to 8 is Family Home Weekend. Family Home Weekends will officially begin at midnight of the last school day and end at midnight on the third day. No official school activities will be scheduled. No homework will be given by teachers over this weekend (AP classes do not apply, though a reduction of work can be expected). Please see the Secondary PSMO for more details.

February Candygrams | Joshua McKeown 

Candygrams are back! The Student Council presents February CANDYGRAM sales as a way students and staff can encourage joy to those around! They are 20 baht each and will be sold to students and staff February 9-12 during lunch in the cafeteria. 

Deliveries for Students NOT Permitted  | Secondary Office

Students are not permitted to order (violation of cell phone use – see SMO Handbook) and/or receive orders (i.e. Grab, FoodPanda, Lazada, etc.) during school hours. Secondary Administration is working with our Security Team to ensure the safety of our students while on our closed campus and we appreciate your cooperation to this end.

Arriving Late/Tardy | Secondary Office

See Secondary PSMO Handbook 2020-2021 for more details.

  • Students need to check-in at the Secondary Office to be signed in and given a note to class.
  • An excused tardy will require communication by a phone call or email (see “Reporting an Absence” for contact information).
  • Students more than 20 minutes late to a class, will be marked as absent.

How to Report Absences | Secondary Office

If a student is absent, a parent/guardian is expected to contact the office between 7:45 and 8:15 a.m. on the day of the absence.

See Secondary PSMO Handbook 2020-21 for more details. Unreported Absences. All absences not reported by 8:15 am on the day your child is absent, will be unexcused. Unexcused absences may impact credits received.

Planned Absences. Students planning to be absent 2+ days are to complete the Planned Absence Request Form, at least a week in advance.

Art Chapel | spirituallife@gisthailand.org

We are excited to have our annual Art Chapel this Friday. We are asking students to bring a journal, writing utensil, and an n-95 mask (for an outdoor portion) with them. If you would like to watch, the event will be live streamed through our GIS YouTube channel which you can access here.

Weekly Prayer Time | spirituallife@gisthailand.org

We will be hosting a time of prayer in the Spiritual Life Office on Wednesday from 12:00-12:15. We are hoping to grow as a community in how we view and engage in prayer.

  • Fans are allowed to come watch games and tournaments, but we are limited to 200 people
  • No fans allowed for CMAC games

Wednesday, Feb. 3

🏃 GIS XC COVID-19 Invitational @ GIS 3:45pm

GIS will be hosting the final XC race of the year. It will begin at 3:45pm at the inner soccer field. It may or may not have other schools competing. We would like to have students, parents, and staff to join the race and give our kids some competition! It doesn’t matter what your ability level is, just come out, get some exercise, and have some fun! Please sign up here if you are interested. Choose which race distance you prefer: 2km, 3km, 4km, or 5km. Medals will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age group. Runners must be of the correct age to receive a medal, but anyone is welcome to run in any race category. We will also have team scoring for each race division. Feel free to make your own team of 4 or 5 runners or we can put you on a team. Start times for each race will be determined next week and posted on the Grace Athletics FB page. 🏃CMAC Virtual Race

CMAC is hosting a virtual running competition open to all students and parents from CMAC schools. Individual medals and team trophies will be given to students in each race division. GIS students who score one of the top 5 fastest times in their age group from GIS will be part of the GIS scoring team that will hopefully beat the teams from the other schools and will receive a team trophy! All students are welcome and encouraged to participate! Use the Strava app to submit your results or come participate in our XC race Wednesday to get your race officially timed.
