As parents of GIS students, you are allowed to check out up to 20 books at a time for 2 weeks at a time. The GIS Library is available for parents during the following hours:

Morning: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:55 – 8:15 AM

Afternoon: Monday: 3:15 – 4:00 PM, Thursday: 1:30 – 4:00 PM

We have several extracurricular clubs/activities that are getting started in the next few weeks. Students will see posters advertising these in our building and will also hear more information in the weekly announcements on Mondays.

All Secondary Parents are invited to the 2nd floor of the Library on Monday, September 16 from 7-8pm. We will be discussing how technology is integrated in the Secondary School, tools we use (i.e. Google Classroom), technology & digital citizenship curriculum, filtering and parent tools such as Blocksi. Please plan to join us!

Parents, please remember to report your child’s absence in one of two ways:

  2. Email attendance@gisthailand.org BY 8:15 am on the day of the absence. All unreported absences will remain unexcused. Thanks for your help with this! See the PSMO Handbook for more information on absences.

On occasion we call on others to fill in for teachers when they are going to be away from school or they are sick. If you’d like to help in this area, please contact the elementary office for more information.

GIS Nurse Office is able to offer monthly vaccination services in partnership with a local Thai doctor. Visit the Health Services website for complete information and forms. Please note completed payment at the Nurses Office confirms a vaccination appointment. It requires at least 2 days to process the information before the appointment.

Payments for Hume Lake are now being received at the Admin Building reception with K. Tawn, **Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:00 – 9:30 AM and 3:00 – 4:00 PM each day through September 22. Wednesday opens from 9:45 – 11:00 AM and 3:00 – 4:00 PM.**

Elementary Chapel takes place every other Tuesday. This year we are putting together chapel teams (students from grades 4 – 6) that will work together to make the overall chapel experience even more engaging. So far we have a Drama Team and a Puppeteer Team. A Worship Team will be selected soon. All team practices will be on Mondays. If your student is on any of these teams, please feel free to join us during chapel time. When our cafeteria is completed we’ll have more space and be able to accommodate any parents who wish to attend chapels.

It’s time to register for Hume Thailand 2019! Hume Lake Christian Camps have been bringing an amazing team of adult counselors to serve students in Thailand for over a decade of unforgettable camp experiences. These Hume staffers personally fundraise to keep camp costs low to offer students an excellent, Jesus-saturated, super-fun Christian camping experience for any grade 6-12 students. ELEMENTARY

We are planning some exciting new clubs for our 3rd – 6th grade students this fall! Clubs will be every Wednesday beginning October 30 until December 18. More information about clubs and registrations forms will be e-mailed to parents after October break.

SECONDARY

Secondary parents have the option to utilize the Blocksi Parent Dashboard to more actively control content filtering and time access controls for their child’s GIS-owned Chromebook. Instructions on how to enroll can be found here. Parents who wish to remove the Blocksi filtering from their child’s Chromebook can do so by emailing helpdesk@gisthailand.org.

GIS is not offering the PSAT/NMSQT this year. Instead, Grade 11 American Citizens interested in the PSAT/NMSQT are invited to contact Chiang Rai International School to inquire about reserving a testing spot on October 30. There are limited spaces thus make contact no later than October 1 by emailing the CRIS Guidance Counselor – hope@cris.ac.th
