GENERAL

*New* Impact of Traffic on Locals | gis-execasst@gisthailand.org

Dear GIS Staff, Students, and Community:Would you continue to help us make a positive impact on our neighbors with your driving? Our presence has brought about a noticeable change in traffic flow. We have been informed of, and security has observed, hurried driving as well as unsafe passing on these residential streets. Further, please give grace to vehicles loading and unloading students by being patient and going slow. Their safety is of utmost importance.

Grace is currently planning events to make positive connections with our new neighbors, and you can help us tremendously through the witness of our driving. Thank you for your cooperation.

*New* Volunteers Needed to Address Envelopes!development@gisthailand.org
The Development Department is looking for some parent volunteers to help us hand address envelopes. Each year we send out an “End of the Year” letter to our GIS alumni and donors and we are able to raise a significant amount of money for our campus. Hand addressing the letter adds a personal touch and is extremely beneficial to our donations. If you are available to come help Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 12:30-3:15pm or Thursday, Oct. 24, from 9:00am – 12:00pm, please sign up to come help! We will have all the supplies for you and fun snacks! Thanks so much!

 

Second Quarter Tuition Due October 15 finance@gisthailand.org
The finance office would like to remind families that second-quarter tuition is due on October 15. If you owe second quarter tuition, please pay by the due date to avoid late fees. For those families that still have outstanding balances on first-quarter tuition or capitalization fees, please make payment as soon as possible. Thank you for helping to support the school.

GIS Nurse Office is able to offer monthly vaccination services in partnership with a local Thai doctor. Visit the Health Services website for complete information and forms. Please note completed payment at the Nurses Office confirms a vaccination appointment. It requires at least 2 days to process the information before the appointment.

We recently created some confusion (between staff and students) in our dress code for what students may wear on Tiger Pride Days. This was updated in our current PSMO but was not communicated well to staff and faculty. We apologize for any confusion students may have experienced because of our lack of clarity on this. We never intend for our policies to create confusion. Students will be reminded ahead of the next Tiger Pride Day.

 

*New* Secondary Parent Equipping Nights – Part 1: The College Process and Part 2: Financial Aid | counselor@gisthailand.org
Thursday, October 31 from 7:00-8:30 PM (Location TBD & announced here)
Part 1: What is important to know in order to help your son/daughter choose colleges and majors? What must parents know about the application process, deadlines, and personal statements/essays? These questions and more will be answered by a panel of college representatives from 12 Christian colleges and our GIS academic counselors Mrs. Hyunjoo Jeong and Ms. Anne Spohnhauer. Afterward, visit with the college representatives from Biola, Calvin, Cornerstone, Dordt, Fresno Pacific, Geneva, Grace, Messiah, Hardin-Simmons, Louisiana, Oral Roberts, and Trinity Western (BC, Canada).

Tuesday, November 5 from 7:00-8:30 PM (2nd Floor of Library, GIS)
Part 2: Find answers to your questions about financial aid, the cost of attendance, and scholarships at colleges and universities in the United States. This information will be presented by Mr. Tim Hewitt, a “retired” college financial aid officer, and Ms. Anne Spohnhauer, GIS academic counselor.

*New* 12 Christian Colleges to Visit Secondary Homerooms on November 1! | counselor@gisthailand.org
Students in grades 9-12, will be given presentations about preparing for college, choosing a major, paying for college, and what to expect in college by representatives from twelve Christian colleges during Homeroom and have an opportunity to visit with the representatives at lunchtime. Grade 11 & 12 will also be given a presentation on “Why Consider Attending a Christian College.” The universities visiting are Biola, Calvin, Cornerstone, Dordt, Fresno Pacific, Geneva, Grace, Messiah, Hardin-Simmons, Louisiana, Oral Roberts, and Trinity Western (BC, Canada).
