Vaccination Clinic | nurse@gisthailand.org
The vaccination Clinic is happening on January 24th in the Nurse’s office.  If you have signed up please reminder to come by between 3.15 – 4.00 pm.  Elementary students will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

2023-24 Student Re-enrollment | nurse@gisthailand.org
Physical examination form and TB skin test results are due January 31. Student Physical Exams Form. TB skin test need to be read 48-72 hours after the injection. The nurses at GIS can read your results. TB skin test result form.

Please also have your physician review the students action plan if they have a life-threatening allergy, asthma or require a health accommodation.

The air quality in Chiang Mai has been quite poor this week. Grace International School has an air quality monitor on campus, you can view the reading here. There are policies and procedures in place to guide staff and teachers as they work to keep your kids safe and to limit their exposure to harmful air pollution.

Parents who have children with environmental allergies or asthma problems. Please make sure your child has the needed medications and/or inhaler in the nurse’s office. A face mask N95 or N99 rating can help reduce your child’s exposure to the PM10 & PM 2.5 particles when outdoors.

The deadline for re-enrollment registration is JANUARY 31, 2023. Please make sure to fill out the form even if your child/children will not be returning for the next school year. If you have any questions, please contact registrar@gisthailand.org.

January Bake Sale is at The Carnival!! | communityliaison@gisthailand.com
A GIS Community Event, Date: Saturday January 28, 2023, Time: 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. 

Bake Sale is a GIS Community Fundraiser to support students and school projects.

Our host bakers for this month are G2 and G11 (making donations of 25 pieces or more, individually wrapped baked items per student). Parents/guardians of a student in any of these grades, please check your email for the signup sheet, reminders and other useful information.

Stop by our booth for delicious Bagels, Gluten-free snacks, Nut-free items, Cupcakes, Muffins, Brownies, Cookies, Doughnuts, Carrot cake, Banana bread, Popcorn pops, etc., and other surprise desserts.

Don’t forget to send money with your student on January 28, 2023.
Items will be priced from 50 baht.

Delivery and Drop Off Reminders.

  • If a student forgets something (backpack, instrument, PE/sports clothing, etc.), parents/guardians may physically bring something into the Elementary or Secondary Offices to leave for their child. Please DO NOT drop off or leave items at the Guard House. 
  • No student or parent can order deliveries to campus (including Grab / Grab Express / Tuk / PandaExpress / MealsOnWheels / 7-11 / Lineman) during school hours (7:45am-3:15pm)
  • GIS Guards are not responsible for overseeing items being delivered to students “from” parents/guardians by a delivery service, due to security reasons and their work responsibilities.

 

 

ELEMENTARY

Birthday treats will no longer be allowed in the lunchroom. If you’d like to share birthday treats with your child’s class, please coordinate with their teacher and plan to bring them in time for their afternoon recess time. 

Planned Absence Request/Late Arrivals | elementary.office@gisthailand.org
If your child(ren) will be absent from school for more than two days, please submit a Planned Absence Request Form.  If your child(ren) are going to be arriving late to school (after 8:15 Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and after 9:45 on Wed), a parent or responsible adult must sign them in at the elementary office before going to their classroom. 

3rd – 6th Grade After School Clubs | elementary.office@gisthailand.org
The last day to submit permission forms for after school clubs is Wednesday, January 25.

Opportunities for School Aides/Substitutes | elementary.office@gisthailand.org
If you’d like to volunteer in elementary, we have a place for you.  Our current needs are substitute teachers and someone to help during our 1st – 3rd grade lunch time in the cafeteria.  Please contact the office if you’d like more information.

What is a Ceilidh Dance?  A Ceilidh Dance is for everyone! 
Who is invited? Current 5th, 6th and 7th graders and their families (siblings 3rd grade & above) 
When and Where? Saturday, February 11 @ 6:30-8:00 pm in the GIS Cafeteria
Why? 

  • To widen the students cultural awareness and experiences
  • To allow the newly formed middle school students and families to gather together 
  • To kick off International Week

Academic Plan Meetings for Secondary Students: February and March | counselor@gisthailand.org

  • Students in grades 11, 10, 9, and 8 will be called in to visit with their academic counselor about post-high school goals, future academic plans, and classes that should be taken next school year to meet these goals and to ensure graduation from GIS. 
  • A proposed schedule of classes will be created and recorded on the student’s 4-year Academic Plan document in Classroom (ask your student to see this). 
  • It is highly recommended that students and parents refer to this Plan when choosing classes for the 2023-2024 school year. 
  • FamilyWeb course selection will open in the later part of April.
