Community Conversation with Steve Anderson, GIS Superintendent –Sep 8, 2022 | superintendents.office@gisthailand.org

We’ve got a few more days to go before the Community Conversation event!

If you haven’t already signed up but would like to join us, please RSVP through this LINK. This will also help us prepare the right amount of refreshments for you.

I’ll be giving you an update on the school, address school-wide topics, and answer questions from you. One topic of interest will be the update on the Middle School project and campus development plans for the school. It’ll also be a chance for you to connect with other GIS parents.

Join me on Thursday, September 8, 2022 @ 2 – 3:30 pm.

We’ll meet in room A230 (2nd Floor, Admin Building)

If you have specific, school-wide questions you would like the leadership to address, you may share them ahead of time on the RSVP form (see above link).

Parking Lot Safety |coo.office@gisthailand.org
Here at Grace, the safety of our students, staff, family members, and visitors are of utmost importance to us. This includes where we park and the safety of people as they walk around the parking lot. While driving, please be careful in the parking lot and drive slowly and carefully.

Recently, during our New Family and Student Welcome on 8 August, there was reported damage to a staff member’s car that was parked in the Songtaew parking lot.  If you know anything about this incident, please contact coo.office@gisthailand.org

Tiger Pride Day Reminder | elementary.office@gisthailand.org
Our first Tiger Pride Day theme is SCHOOL COLORS and will be on Wednesday, September 7.  On that day students are encouraged to wear our school colors (blue & yellow/gold). Tiger Pride Day is not mandatory and if your child chooses not to participate in the theme, they should wear their normal Grace uniform.  (We will have another Tiger Pride Day at the end of September – stay tuned for that theme.)

Elementary After School Clubs | elementary.office@gisthailand.org
Elementary After School Clubs (3rd – 6th grades only) are scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 22.  We will NOT be doing electronic sign-ups this year.  Your child will bring home a flyer this week explaining what clubs are being offered this semester and instructions on how to sign up.

Elementary Parent Teacher Conferences | elementary.office@gisthailand.org
Every year GIS elementary administration schedules two days without classes during the first quarter to allow parents the opportunity to meet with teachers.  This is not mandatory; however, if you would like to meet with your child’s teacher(s), this time is for that purpose.

This year we will use the same online system as we have in the past which has a lot of benefits:

  • It allows for canceling/re-schedule before the deadline
  • You can print/email your conference schedule
  • It prevents double booking

Sign-ups start Monday, September 5 as soon as you receive this Weekly Roar publication.  Conferences can be scheduled on Thursday, September 15, and Friday, September 16. Please click on one of the tutorial links below for instructions to get logged in and start scheduling appointents today:      English Instructions   Korean Instructions

Please note:  Sign-ups will close at midnight on Monday, September 12.

If you have any questions, please contact elementary.office@gisthailand.org.  For any Korean parents who have questions, please contact mihm@gisthailand.org.

IMPORTANT: If you need a translator and can provide one for yourself during your parent-teacher conference, please let the teacher know as soon as possible.

Class of 2023 Parents: Post-High School Student Information Meetings secondary.office@gisthailand.org

  • Academic counselors met on August 29 and September 2 with your 12th-grade students to provide information about post-high school options. This included when and how to research your options, how to plan for your future, and how to make sure you attain your goals.
  • Additional very valuable information about college applications, GAP years, military, and employment can also be found on this resource page which was made available to the students in early July.
  • We would like parents to have the same information as your students have received during their recent meetings with the academic counselors plus the opportunity to ask questions. Therefore, we are planning a Parent Equipping meeting with a special focus on the college application process and financial aid at a date to be determined.
