Leading up to the week, students will hear about digital citizenship in chapel and parents will receive tips here in the Weekly Roar. How can I get my kids to put down their phones? There is a strong felt need among young people to stay in touch with friends. However, if mobile phone use is negatively affecting family time, homework, and other responsibilities, why not consider helping your child manage his or her phone time? Help kids find space for face-to-face conversations. Consider the following: -Putting phones down during key conversation times such as dinner or car rides. – Modeling the manners and behavior you hope to see. -Avoiding texting in the car. -Excusing yourself if you have to interrupt a family moment to attend to your phone. Today, Monday October 7th, we conducted the first fire drill on our new campus. Within 4 minutes everyone had left the campus and within another 6 minutes all students and staff were accounted for.
