Grace International School uses the Line application to send information to the staff and community that is considered critical and needs to be communicated quickly.

The official GIS Facebook page and email are other means of communication the school will use to communicate in a crisis/ emergency, but the Line app is likely to be used to ‘quickly get the word out’.

Line is a freeware app for instant communications on electronic devices such as smartphones, tablet computers, and personal computers. The app is available for IOS and Android users. The Line version used by the school is ‘Line Official’ but messages will be sent to the normal Line app. There is no need to install the Line Official app.

How it works:

  • Download/ install the Line app.     GIS Alert group QR code
  • Scan the QR code or use the @gis-alerts to find the GIS Alerts group.
  • The QR code and @shortcut will also be shared in the Roar, on the website, and in the reception areas.
  • For those that are used to Line: this group is not like other groups you can create in Line where chats are visible for all group members.
  • Make sure Notifications are turned on!
  • GIS leadership will send out Alerts.

Joining the Line GIS Alerts group

  1. After installing the app, go to the home screen
  2. In the top right corner, there is a scanning button. When clicking this, it opens the camera function (sometimes your device will ask you for permission to use the camera) and you point the camera to the QR code and it will automatically add you to the GIS Alerts group.
  3. Check to see whether Notifications are turned on for Line.
